No longer easy as ABC
Well, folks, we have lost our weekly ABC radio chat spot for Gold Coast community theatre. It was a good run while it lasted - over three years without a miss. Where do we go from here? Another radio station - anyone in the 16 to 35 demographic listen to 4CRB?????????? Never mind, still good for the mature generations - they make up a sizable slice of the theatregoing audience anyway.

Following my comments on the May Blog. So as one door closes another opens. Incidentally, there is a new enthusiastic group at Murwillumbah who are using the title "One Door Closes..." [Dream Run Theatre Company] who will try an edgy short play kind of drama at the Murwilumbah Civic Centre on July 30/31.
ReplyDeleteBut to get us started on a short play festival of our own? No formal meetings just ideas to nut out what we need to be thinking about in order to launch a short play festival (then we can waste, sorry, I mean spend, time in committee - anyway, I don't call them 'committees'. Rather, think of such group meets as a 'taskforce' that has a job to do and when it is achieved we all go to the pub to celebrate.
Short plays, home grown but supplemented with performance-ready products that have had showings elsewhere?
What time of year - winter when it is better to be under cover, say June - August. If not this year, then certainly next year.
Don't worry about venue, there is already an offer on the table if we can come up with an exciting ready-to-go Festival proposition.
Suggest that we all make a beeline for Gold Coast Little Theatre's One-Act season at end of July.
Great idea Joel, a taskforce sounds like it's 'moving forward'! Next year sounds good to me, what about summer/spring time and we could use some outside spaces...

Do you have a theory on acting or performance that you would like to expound to us all? Come on people!! Let's hear from you!! Other wise you will have to put up with me!!!!!
